Welcome to the Southwest Mississippi Animal League &
Rescue!  We are a
tax-exempt 501 (c)(3), non-profit,
volunteer-based, NO-KILL animal welfare league.  We
service Amite, Pike and Walthall Counties in southwest
Mississippi.  We are dedicated to helping abused,
abandoned, or injured domestic animals; preventing
animal cruelty; advocating and carrying out spay/neuter
programs, educating the public about pet care and
responsibility; and establishing a NO-KILL animal shelter.

We are a growing organization that is looking for members
with a love for animals.  Help us help our
SMALR friends
that can't help themselves!
SMALR has teamed up with Maddie's Fund, a national non-profit
aimed at educating the public about animal welfare and animal
adoption.  Maddie's Fund has created coloring books that teach
young children the benefits of adopting an animal and how to care
for your animal.  SMALR recently was delighted to visit Osyka
Elementary to share in this educational experience.  SMALR was
able to provide all the children from K-2 a coloring book of their
very own.  The children also got to see "Billy", a SMALR rescue
puppy that has now been adopted.  Thanks Osyka Elementary
and Maddie's Fund for making this possible to educate our future
about animal welfare and animal adoption!

SMALR was delighted to participate in Summit's annual
Fall Festival.  There was a great turn out thanks to
absolutely beautiful weather.  SMALR brought several
foster animals that were looking for their forever homes.
We are excited to report that all but one of the animals that
we brought were placed in loving homes!  This along with
fantastic donations and the sell of crafts and goods
prepared by our wonderful volunteers made the Summit
Fall Festival a towering success!  Thank you all for your
support!

Sunday, Oct. 14th
Centenary United Methodist & Mediator Episcopal Church

like to thank everyone that attended for
their support.  Many animals will be
helped because of you!  A special thank

Trap-Neuter-Release
Our Trap-Neuter Release Program, TNR, helps
control the pet population by trapping,
neutering/spaying and releasing feral (wild) cats
into a safe, pet-friendly environment.  Our
community has numerous colonies of feral cats
that are reproducing at an alarming rate.  Our TNR
program is helping to reduce this problem.  To find
out how to help your community and get involved,
